The Chief of Tamale, Dakpema Naa Fuseini Bawa, has assured the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, that they would consult the oracles on his behalf.
The pronouncement was made when top NPP official, Nana Obiri Boahen, who is also a staunch supporter of the Vice President, paid a courtesy call on the Tamale Chief.
Speaking at the Dakpema Palace during the call, Naa Fuseini Bawa commended Nana Obiri Boahen for according due respect to the elders of the land.
Speaking through a spokesperson, Naa Fuseini Bawa said that although chiefs are not supposed to engage in active party politics, they can do their part by praying for Bawumia as a son of the land and consult the ancestors on his behalf.
“It’s a fact we don’t do politics. But anyone who will come to us for prayers is welcome. In the last general elections, President Akufo-Addo came to us, when Mahama came, we told him that ‘we’ve already consulted the ancestors and there is nothing we can do for him, so if Dr Bawumia comes, we will consult the ancestors for him,” Naa Fuseini Bawa told Nana Obiri Boahen.
At a later visit to the overlord of Mamprugu, Nayiri-Naa Bohugu Mahama Abdulai Sheriga, he bestowed his blessings on Bawumia.
“My words are powerful. You already have my blessings to move around even if I don’t lay my hands on you. We’re happy to see you here,” The overlord of Mamprusi prayed.
Nana Obiri Boahen was on a three-day tour of the Northern, Savannah and Upper Regions and aside from the two aforementioned monarchs, also visited the Walewale Chief, Duurana Amin Mohammed, Mion Chief and the Buipe Wura to ask them all to pray for their son Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as he embarks on a journey to become the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party.
