Political scientist and ardent critic of the ruling government, Dr. Richard Amoako Baah has slammed Members of Parliament who abandoned their official duties for the ongoing World Cup games in Qatar.
He has questioned why Members of Parliament will go to Qatar when there are urgent matters in the country that needs that attention.
He made these statements when he was sharing his thoughts on government officials who abandoned post amidst economic challenges to go to Qatar.
Dr. Baah who was speaking on his ‘What’s Going show” on Kumasi-based Ultimate FM monitored by theGhanaianvoice.com was very shocked this occurred with no punishment.
“This country I don’t know where the logic reasoning is, how can MPs who are supposed to debate a budget go to Qatar and watch the Black Stars?”
“I just don’t get it, the president went there and we failed, then the ministers and MPs also went and we were defeated. These people are supposed to be thinking about getting things right home but look at them all over” he lamented.
“Where they see money, they rush to. These people need to be held accountable and punished if need be”. He demanded
The once KNUST lecture however noted that these things can happen because the system is broken and there is no one in charge.
“All this is happening because, the system is not working. There is nothing working, so the little brightest spot people want to run to. But the Ghana team also didn’t pull their weight, see what the Uruguayans did, they played so well, we had two quick goals scored against us”.
“I am not surprised this happened. I played football myself but I don’t enjoy watching these plays these days, they don’t play well” he said.
Meanwhile after their exit in Qatar, the Blacks Stars team has come under severe scrutiny over what some believe is a lackluster performance.
