Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia on Monday, October 31st 2022 attended the funeral of the Paramount Chief and Queen Mother of the Kwamang Traditional Area.
The Doteyie (funeral rites) of Barima Okyere Bediako II and Nana Kwakyewaa Manu II were held in Sekyere Kwamang in the Ashanti Region.
Dr Bawumia graced the occasion to mourn with the chiefs and people in the area over the tragic passing of their monarchs.
Barima Bretwum Okyere Bediako II died in December 2021 after being involved in a ghastly accident.
The Paramount Chief and two others onboard a Subaru 4×4 vehicle with registration number DV 4446-CD-21 died at the Konongo Odumase Government Hospital where they had been receiving treatment after the crash.
The deceased and four other persons on board the vehicle were travelling from the Accra-Kumasi direction when their vehicle collided head-on with an oncoming Toyota Hiace mini-bus loaded with passengers travelling from the opposite direction.
Nana Bretwum, until his death, was also a police officer stationed at the NADMO Headquarters in Accra and was said to be behind the steering wheel when the accident occurred at about 7:30 P.M at the end of a three-lane road on the Accra-Kumasi road.
The late monarch was 41 years of age and was enstooled as Paramount Chief of Kwamang in 2019.
