A former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Okaikoi North, Issah Fuseini, says Ghanaians should give the New Patriotic Party (NPP) 40 uninterrupted years in office to properly fix the country.
Speaking on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana, he expressed optimism that the NPP will ‘break the 8’ and win the 2024 elections but added it will be better for Ghanaians to continue to retain the NPP in power for 40 years.
He was addressing the NDC’s constituency elections.
“The National Democratic Congressis a public institution and being a public institution, we should be interested because at least they have held the reigns of power in this country before. They are seen as the biggest opposition party which I am sure they will continue to be in the next election and elections after that,” he said.
“I have sat on this platform and said that Ghanaians will be better off giving the New Patriotic Party some 32 years, some 36 years, some 40 years to remain in power just so we could be able to roll out policies and imbibe the proper attitudes in Ghanaians before we exit for any other political party. I am sure by then the National Democratic Congress would have been dead and buried long before then,” the former legislator added.
Amidst the high cost of living, rising inflation and the never-ending depreciation of the cedi, the NPP has remained confident of ‘breaking the 8’ and retaining power.
Meanwhile, the NDC insists their mismanagement of the economy will see them kicked out of power in 2024.
The NDC will elect its national executive officers in December.
