President Akufo-Addo‘s lawyer, Kow Essuman, has expressed confidence that the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, will steer Ghana out of the current economic downturn.
In a post on Twitter, Essuman expressed renewed confidence in Ofori-Atta as the Minister continues to come under fire for the poor performance of the Ghanaian economy.
“I am confident that Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, will get a good deal for Ghana and steer us out of these times very soon. He has done it before, and he will do it again.” Essuman tweeted on Tuesday, October 11th, 2022.

Essuman was reacting after the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, spoke about the current state of negotiations between the government of Ghana and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
“This has been a very productive mission and I thank the IMF Team and all stakeholders for their commitment over what has been a marathon fortnight. The Government of Ghana is deeply encouraged by the progress made so far,” he said.
“We look forward to continuing our engagement and remain committed to working tirelessly to create a stable and resilient macroeconomic environment, ensure debt sustainability, and maintain social cohesion.
“Ghana is at a pivotal moment in her history and we are grateful for the IMF’s support, and indeed the support of all Ghanaians, as we work together to bolster Ghana’s build back effort,” he reportedly said.
Ofori-Atta Has My Full Support – Akufo-Addo
Kow Essuman’s sentiments mirror that of the President, Nana Akufo-Addo, who has constantly expressed confidence in Ofori-Atta despite the difficult economic challenges.
The President jumped to Ofori-Atta’s defence amidst constant calls for a reshuffle.
“This same Finance Minister, people are calling for his head today is the very man who took us out of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) programme very successfully and helped us produce the 7.5 per cent growth rate that we had before the COVID.
“People have forgotten that today because of the difficulty that we are having. But he is the same figure he hasn’t changed and I believe that he has the same determination to work to bring us out of this present state as he showed at the beginning of our government,” he noted.
