A National Chairman hopeful of the NDC has labelled Samuel Ofosu Ampofo and Asiedu Nketiah as unfit for the chairmanship position in the upcoming executive elections.
He believes that both men cannot lead the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to victory in the 2024 polls.
According to him, the NDC needs to liberate Ghanaian from the hardship and as such must elect persons who are capable of delivering victory for the Party.
Addressing a press conference on October 6, the former Ashanti Regional Minister under erstwhile John Mahama administration said, the competition between Asiedu Nketiah and Ofosu Ampofo only mean they failed as they played in both 2016 and 2020 elections.
He said he poses a new face for the party in the Chairmanship position who can lead the NDC to victory in the 2024 general election.
“There is extreme hardship in the country that was created by this government and the NDC should win power in 2024 to save Ghana but we cannot do that with either Asiesu Nketiah and Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo as our National Chairman.
“Asiedu Nketiah has been the General secretary for the past 17 years and he worked side by side with Samuel Ofosu Ampofo in the 2016 election but does not believe that the current chairman should continue.. and that’s why he is contesting and the same with Ofosu Ampofo because he doesn’t believe that Asiedu Nketiah who he has known for years can fill his shoes,” He said.
He added that calling for change is in order as the current chairman and Secretary have proven not capable for leading the party to victory.
“What these very experienced politicians are doing is to tell the NDC members that they cannot do the job and there is a need for new face because they have no confidence in each other. They are calling for a change and I am that change because they played vital roles in the 2016 and 2020 elections and we lost.
“The NDC cannot lose the 2024 elections and that is why they need to vote for me as National Chairman because they cannot win the elections with either Asiedu Nketiah of Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo.
