A lecturer at the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) Dr. Kobby Mensah has expressed his dismay about the President of Ghana Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on his commitment to the fight against galamsey.
The lecturer questioned the values of the president following his comment yesterday at a meeting with the National House of Chiefs and MMDCES on galamsey in the country.
This comes after the President who asked Chiefs to take out partisan politics from the fight against galamsey went ahead to remind his appointees that their determination to fight galamsey will help the NPP ‘break the eight’.
In a tweet sighted by this theGhanaianvoice.com, the lecturer asked,“where are your values” referring to Akufo-Addo.
He explained that everything should not be about the next election but rather focus on making the lives of Ghanaians better.
“So NPP will only fight Galamsay becos will make them win elections. Ei! Where are the values – securing the future of generations unborn? Sustaining the earth resources? Protecting the livelihoods – human and animals etc. None of these important to president but elections,” he said in a tweet.
To Dr Kobby Mensah, the President should have focused on how well the environment will be protected and how the country would benefit immensely from the fight.
