Founder and Leader of the United Progressive Party (UPP), Akwasi Addai Odike, has alleged that there is a deliberate attempt by the Chinese to destroy Ghana’s lands in order to destroy the country’s major export which is Cocoa.
According to the Businessman, the Chinese are looking at becoming the leading producers of cocoa in the world and therefore have planned to destroy what has been the backbone of the Ghanaian economy.
He said the rise in China infiltration is for them to take over as world leaders in the production of cocoa.
Against this backdrop, Odike indicated that the Chinese come to Ghana to engage in illegal mining by buying cocoa farms and destroying them.
“The Chinese have a plan to become world leaders in cocoa production so they have sent out their people to come and destroy our land so that we cannot produce cocoa anymore. They bring the cyanide which destroys our water bodies and in turn also destroys the quality of cocoa we produce,” he said.
He added that, the Chinese wants to colonize Ghana economy and as such has plan tp destroy the backbone of Ghana’s economy.
“They want to colonize Ghana economically but our elders don’t see it like that. They bring them money and they give out their lands to destroy it. Last year Ghana lost $16 billion worth of gold which was smuggled out of the shores of this country. Meanwhile, we are looking for 2&3 billion from IMF.
He has therefore cautioned Ghanaian chief to have a look at the destruction that are allowing in their areas, destroying the environment
“Our chiefs should have an introspection. If their forefathers left their lands in this state, will they have agreed to become Chiefs after they have died? Mining does not bring anything to the people. The places where mining takes place just suffer,” he said
