The Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has hailed the rapid construction of the Agenda 111 projects in the Northern Region.
The Veep is on a Northern Regional Tour and went to inspect work on the Agenda 111 projects, encompassing eight hospitals expected to be completed by December 2023.
Speaking after his inspection, the Vice President expressed pleasant surprise over the pace of work; “I am very happy with the pace of work so far; I never knew the contractors had gone this far.”
“One of the things that we have to appreciate fundamentally is that Agenda 111 is really a bold initiative by the government because we are saying that every district should have a hospital; that is the vision,” he continued.
According to him, about 87 hospitals were at various stages of construction across the country, with the five regions of the north having about 27 of those projects.
Bawumia Not Campaigning On Northern Regional Trip
A spokesperson for the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has debunked claims that his Northern Regional Tour is a pretext for a subtle campaign.
The Vice President on Sunday, October 2nd 2022, began a three-day tour of the Northern Region to inspect ongoing government projects, interact with chiefs and people and commission completed projects.
However, critics maintain it is an avenue to campaign for the upcoming NPP flagbearer race.
Speaking to Citi News, the spokesperson for the Vice President, Dr. Gideon Boako said the Vice President was just engaging with people in his community.
“Some of them are technically not party people, but the fact that he lives within their community, he has a property within their community, and he comes back home after work, they want to visit him and talk to him, and it is quite normal.
“It is time for him to avail himself to the community for people to come and interact with him,” Mr. Boako said.
