Veteran Actor Ekow Blankson Passes On

Veteran Ghanaian actor, Ekow Blankson, widely known for his roles in multiple movies including in Shirley Frimpong-Manso’s ‘Checkmate’, has sadly died.

Ekow Blankson reportedly passed away today, October 3rd 2022.

He previously worked as the Managing Director of TV Africa and was the commercial manager of Ghanaweb before his demise.

The late actor served in multiple media-related roles after putting his acting career on the back burner.

He worked with Media General Ghana Limited and Multimedia Broadcasting Company as Managing Director, Director of Brands and Corporate Communications and General Manager (Luv FM and Nhyira FM) respectively.

Ekow Blankson holds a Masters Degree in Fine Arts and a Diploma in Theatre Arts (Drama) from the University of Ghana, Legon. He also holds a marketing certificate from Heineken Global Commerce University, Amsterdam.

His acting credits include roles in Checkmate, Borga, In April, Black Earth Rising, Death After Birth, The Intruder and more.

For his role in Shirley Frimpong Manso’s ‘Checkmate’, he earned a Best Actor nomination at the African Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) and Best Supporting Actor at the Ghana Movie Awards.

May he rest in peace.
