Social commentator and former member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Bernard Allotey Jacobs has chastised the New Patriotic Party for exposing the President to public ridicule.
According to him, the NPP should do all it can to protect the president from the vile attempts from the opposition to bring him public shame.
This advice comes on the back of the heckling and booing the president was subject to over the weekend by some patrons of Global Citizens Festival.
Speaking as a panelist on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo show on Wednesday, the former central regional chairman of the NDC said the path of the president should be guarded seriously to prevent what happened from occurring again.
“Your leader is always your leader. You should ensure any path he charts is clear. What he (President) said was full of wisdom and hope . . . They should be conscious of themselves that though it’s left with two years for the President to end his tenure, once he is the leader of the party, he needs the protection of every party member. For the party, your leader is more important than anything else,” he advised the ruling party.
As a veteran in politics, he strongly believed the NDC stationed some people within the crowd to hoot at the President and also mobilized bloggers to blog it so as to create an impression that Nana Addo is unpopular with the masses.
“You would realize that some bloggers have been organized behind the scene just to take pictures and then make noise about and that is propaganda,” he told Kwami Sefa Kayi.
The New Patriotic Party has accused the NDC for allegedly being behind the booing of the president as the event, claims which has been refuted as untrue by the Communication Officer of the NDC.
