The First Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress(NDC), Alhaji Said Sinare has cautioned delegates ahead of the party’s regional and national executives elections.
Alhaji Sinare warned that the party risk electing weak executives if they are going to vote base on money offered to them.
According to the first vice chairman, delegated have the power to elect executives that can lead them to win power from the NPP and as such they should not vote for people who will offer monies.
The NDC is looking to annex power from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2024 elections.
But Alhaji Sinare indicates that delegates wield the power to elect executives for the party and that could either make the party strong or weak.
“You know we are going to elect National, Regional Executives. This is a warning to the Delegates, if you’re going to do money, money matters I swear to God we are going to have a weak party.
Giving a scenario, the Vice chairman said, its wrong if we are only going to go by money and elect just any one.
“If Mr. A is good at championing this party’s cause why don’t you vote for Mr. A. If we are going to go by money, then it’s wrong.”
He said, he was threatened to pay money during the 2018 election but refused and so he knows what he is talking about.
“In 2018 some delegates came to me and told me Alhaji, if you don’t pay, we won’t vote for you. Some of them are here but I don’t want to mention names. I told them I won’t pay and if they are voting they should vote on merit.”
“If we want strong and credible people to run the party my brothers and sisters we need to be careful,” he added.
The national democratic congress heads to the polls to elect that regional and national execute to lead the party in the 2024 general elections.
The elections are scheduled to take pleas in October and December of this year.
